Visas

South African citizens no longer require visas, with the duration of stay being limited to 30 days. For other nationalities, please contact the Mozambique Embassy for further details. Pay attention to the duration of your stay!

Currency

Banks are available in the major towns to exchange money. Local currency (Meticais) can be withdrawn at ATM's in Xai Xai, Inhambane

Shopping

Very limited shopping facilities are available 27km from Zavora Lodge at Inharrime.

Malaria

Take proper precautions against malaria. Propalactics, mosquito coils and insect repellent spray is strongly recommended.

A clinic can be found at Inharrime. Hospitals and doctors are available in Xai Xai and Inhambane.

Obey the speed restrictions through the villages and wear your safety belt. Traffic officers enforce these laws very strictly!

Zavora Guest house is situated on one of the finest stretches of coastline in the Inhambane province. The Guest house is rustic built with local logs and reeds .

Excellent fishing and unspoilt beaches and coastline makes this resort unique.

Launching of boats is from a protected reef and is considered an easy launch for ski boats. Coast line and reef fishing is also available. For those who do not want to fish there is a natural tidal pool on the reef for snorkelling and swimming.

In between June and November Humpback Whales and Manta Rays. are sited, and the bay is a haven for Dolphins.

Magnificent sun rises and sun sets can be seen from the local bar on the dunes.

Away from the sea, quad bike excursions to the inland lakes are an experience not to be missed.

Marine laws in Mozambique :

•  Beach vehicle permit: R100.00, valid for 30 days. This allows vehicles to be driven on the beach only to launch boats or take beach equipment down. Thereafter vehicles must be parked at the appointed areas on the beach. To gain access to the beach, all vehicle tyres must be deflated to a maximum of one bar.

•  Launching permit for a large boat: M505 000, valid for 30 days.

•  Launching permit for a small boat (rubber duck): M363 000, valid for 30 days.

•  Fishing permit per angler (exclude fishing from the beach): M400 000, valid for 30 days.

•  Paddle ski: M45 000, valid for 30 days.

•  Jet ski permit: M150 000, valid for 30 days. Jet ski's are only allowed north of Zavora Lodge boundary. They are not allowed in the bathing areas or the bay.
Life jackets to be worn at all times!

No private quad bikes are allowed.

TRAVELLING TIPS

The original vehicle (and trailer) registration form must be carried with you. Where the vehicle is financed, you must get a letter from the financing company authorizing you to take the
vehicle to Mozambique .

Valid Third Parties Insurance is imperative, to be obtained at the border post.

At police checkpoints you may be required to show your drivers license.

Speeding laws are strictly enforced. Please obey the speed limits.

Blue vehicle triangles must be placed in front of your vehicle, and the back of the trailer.

We suggest you fill up at the major towns such as Maputo and Xai Xai. Inharrime also has a regular supply of fuel, as well as 95 unleaded.
